Debbie earned her BSN from Thomas Jefferson University in 1986 and worked as an RN for 24 years, mainly in Medical ICU and home hospice. In 2010, she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master’s in Adult and Geriatric Primary Care, minoring in Palliative Care. Here at Leading Edge Clinic, she is a co-director of the Adjunctive Cancer Care program.

During her tenure as a Nurse Practitioner, Debbie encountered fatigue and weight gain. After consulting with a Functional Medicine Physician, she was introduced to Functional Medicine. It was determined that her symptoms were linked to high mold levels in her workplace, rather than aging. This discovery led Debbie to become deeply interested in integrative approaches, and she completed rigorous training modules with The Institute for Functional Medicine. Here she learned about “root cause” of illness, and to constantly question the why of anyone’s illness.

With a goal of eventually working in a clinical practice alongside a functional medicine physician, Debbie’s plans changed due to unforeseen circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic. These changes included a move into a residence with mold issues, and a battle with Long Haul Covid, which adversely impacted her mental and physical health. Through continuous study of alternative and integrative healing methods, she ultimately restored her well-being.

When asked about whether she wanted to join Leading Edge Clinic, Debbie stated “I am honored to be offered the opportunity to work alongside Dr. Kory and Scott Marsland. My aspiration to provide care with a group that supports integrative approaches comes true, with the opportunity to deliver care plans and hope for cancer patients through the use of repurposed drugs and metabolic interventions, in conjunction with standard oncology care.”

Debbie’s extensive clinical experience, knowledge, and personal experience with various illnesses such as Chronic Lyme Disease, CIRS, Mold Exposure, Heavy Metal Toxicity, Long Haul Covid, and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome will enable her to offer comprehensive patient care. She believes it is essential for clinicians to identify the root cause of illnesses, rather than labeling patients with disease states. “God has designed the human body with a remarkable capacity for healing when provided with the appropriate environment.”
